Saved Presents Pete Tong & Nic Fanciullli - Free mixes

10/03/2010

With just two more sleeps to go until Saved hits the Source Bar, we have 2 more mixes for you guys. One of them comes from Courtyard headliner Alex Tepper and the other from Mark Fanciulli.

We have now sold out for the event, so for those with tickets here is a taster of what you can expect on the night!

Alex Tepper Link: files.me.com/alextepper/c93ejy.mp3

Alex is probably best known for being one half of the 90's leading House and Tech duo Futureshock. He has been involved in some heavy duty productions for over 15 years remixing for the likes of Moby, Chemical Brothers, New Order, Underworld, and Groove Armada to name just a few. Futureshock released the critically acclaimed Phantom Theory album in 2003 for Junior Boys Own/Parlaphone/EMI. Following the release of the album Futureshock toured extensively, playing live across the globe for club nights and events including Pacha Buenos Aires, Zouk Singapore & Kuala Lumpa. As DJs they performed at the world famous Yellow and Womb nightclubs in Tokyo as well as Live Performances at the amazing Electroglide Festival in Tokyo and Osaka. In the UK Fabric, The End (RIP) & Turnmills all enjoyed DJ sets from the guys as well as some memorable Live performances at Glastonbury's Dance arena and Radio One stage. Alex has been in demand as a DJ all over the world. His Loopy House & Tech style continues to take him to the 4 corners of the planet. Since 2008 Alex has been releasing music under his own name for labels such as Adam Beyer's Drumcode, Tiefschwarz's Souvenir Records, and British powerhouse, Rekids. He's also been busy behind the scenes writing and producing with some world class DJs like Steve Lawler and Nic Fanciulli to name a few. Projects in this area have lead to releases for labels like R&S, Ovum, Get Physical, Rejected Records, Viva Music, Saved Records, Systematic, Sci-Tek and Harthouse among others. It's been a busy few years in the studio for Alex and he plans on making it busier than ever in 2010.

Saved records’ latest offering comes from Brighton based DJ and Producer Steve Mac. This is Steve’s first original release on Saved since the incredible “Scatterbrain” back in 2008 and this time round Steve delivers an amazing single called “The Noise Bastard”.

From the top the track has a deep, jacking groove, and is programmed to perfection. The track builds with extra layers of bass and the lead line drops in through the chords, drowned in modulation creating further dance floor damage.

The track gets the remix treatment from Italian artist Santos, who has just released an EP on Saved and here demonstrates his incredible remix skills. Santos takes the parts of the original and makes his remix a hit like the A Side. The combination of a thumping kick and shuffling hats work well with the additional female vocal hits which add further strength to the groove. Santos’ Bastard Jack remix will create a frenzy when dropped on all sound systems.

"The Noise Bastard" is taken from Steve’s forthcoming artist album on Saved, which will be released later in 2010. More details on this will be announced very soon!

Dubfire - "Digging both mixes ☺"

Laurent Garnier - "Santos mix is sexy as hell!"

Rolando - "Santos remix is the one for me."

Luciano - "Original to play."

Danny Tenaglia - "Santos remix for me!"

John Selway - "Noisey bastard, yeah..."

Sian - "I’m into the original here! Hot shit all around though!"

ONLY FOR DJ's Magazine - "Huge! House with a BIG H!! So fat ☺"

Ben - (Data Transmission) - "Phwoar! That is one sexy remix from Santos. Naughty as fuck, love it. Happpy music."

Following on from a great start to the year with releases from Mendo & Danny Serrano and Yousef, Saved now presents their latest offering, an EP from Santos.

First up on the A-Side is “Rom Controll”. From the top the track grooves along nicely with the bubbling lead sound introduced slowly working its way through the percussion and bass. As it builds into the forefront of the track, so do the hats as they begin to shuffle and along with additional fx twisting their way into the track, it creates the perfect build-up. When the breakdown arrives, the lead line and fx pull the track into a frenzy in unison with the hats, until the drums kick straight back in creating an incredible drop.

On the flipside is “Metal Boogaloo”. Opening much more stripped-down than “Rom Controll” the track has a fresh feel with the combination of pounding kicks and deep, djembe like drums. The track progresses with well-programmed additional drum layers and the fx stabs weave in and develop creatively into the lead sound which is incredibly raw to great effect. Midway the track drops to the stripped-down loop that it started with and begins to get even more creative with extra fx stabs and rolling snare hits. The beats then drop out as the track roars with effective distortion and the spaced fx sounds until they return which will create further dance floor damage.

• With support from:

John Digweed - "Metal Boogaloo is great."

Rolando - "Great DJ tools. Will play Metal Boogaloo for sure."

Laurent Garnier - "Great, funky and noisy ...Rom Controll has a lot of groove Will play!!"

Timo Maas - "TOP! Playing Rom Controll for a month...rocking!!!!"

Firecracker – Nic Fanciulli Remix
I suggest - Original

Saved’s second release for 2010 comes from Yousef. For his debut Saved release, Yousef presents an incredible 2 track EP with one of the tracks receiving a remix from label boss, Nic Fanciulli.

First up is 'Firecracker'. From the beginning the track comes in with a nice underlying groove, beneath the tight kicks and builds nicely with the opening of more percussion hits and bass where the track then directs into the lead woodwind sound. During the breakdown the track literally explodes when leading into the drop to great effect.

'Firecracker' receives a remix from Nic Fanciulli, where this is his first remix work to be released on Saved since he collaborated with Steve Mac when remixing Kingpin Cartel’s “Ghetto” last year. With a cool, deep approach to it, the track’s cut-off chords open up and close, bringing the track up, building it continuously which will create dancefloor damage.

The second track from Yousef is “I Suggest”. Layered with deep, tribal drums, “I Suggest” gets straight to business with grooving off-beat drum and metal hits. The track which is programmed to perfection, continuously builds, and towards the breakdowns, additional vocal hits and fx create an immense build up into the drop.

Saved records continues their busy release schedule towards the close of 2009 with one of their strongest packages to date, a release from MarcAshken and Matt Tolfrey.

Between them, the duo have released tracks on respected labels such as Cocoon, Perc Trax, Crosstown Rebels, Viva, and Matt’s label Leftroom. For their Saved release,

the duo present “Babygirl”, an amazing deep house track, which is layered with deep twisted vocals and is sure to destroy the dance floors over the Christmas clubbing

period and right into 2010.

Alongside the original on the A-Side is a remix from none other than legend Derrick Carter. Known for being one of the best underground house DJs and producers on the

planet, Derrick’s incredible remix, keeps the deep, grooving feel that the original possesses and includes the vocals which he has edited to great effect. Alongside his

sharp use of hi-hats to keep the track flowing, the track drops into and back out of the bass line to create a great end product.

On the flipside, the second remix comes from Amsterdam based artist, Daniel Sanchez. The “Bla Bla” label owner delivers an amazing take on the track, presenting a

much more stripped down and ambient result, perfect for warming the night up with.

The “Babygirl” package is a must for all deep house DJs.

Click here to listen and buy: http://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/195279/We%20Love%20It

Saved records’ latest release comes from Germany’s Philip Bader & Niconé. Having a remix for Saved already under his belt for Andrea Oliva’s “Rainers”, Philip returns with a release collaborated with fellow Berliner Niconé entitled “We Love It”.
The double-sided release contains 2 amazing mixes of the track. On the A-Side, the Pinguin edit, and on the B-Side, the Monkey edit. The Pinguin edit is the peak time, dance floor destroyer of the pair. Built up with tight, pounding kicks and a grooving sub-bass, the track builds into killer drops layered with cool vocal fx stabs.
The Monkey edit is equally as effective as the A side, coming on more of a deep tip with a tribal edge. It grooves along perfectly with many of the parts from the flipside placed throughout in a clever way delivering a second amazing mix.

Sian - "Great EP, love the first edit, perfect for crazy rave moments!!"

07/09/2009

Available to buy now on Beatport: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/190323/Trascendental%20Trips%20EP

Following on from the incredible “Float EP” from Kingpin Cartel, Saved continues it’s campaign releasing the incredible “Trascendental Trips EP” from UNER & Coyu. The duo have already notched up an impressive production CV, with past productions gaining support from DJ heavyweights such as Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox.

On the A side, UNER & Coyu deliver “Mami Wata”. A track with a cool, partly broken-beat percussion rhythm, which also possesses a deep, grooving bassline, layered with cut up vocal hits. The track evolves and builds nicely to the main breakdown, which starts with acoustic drum fills layered and an electric guitar. The warm, groovy bass-line returns in a different, but effective sequence and builds up to the final drop.

On the flipside, the duo continue by delivering another deeper bomb entitled, “The Garden of the Gods”. The track is a much more deeper and less groovy track to the A-side, but is equally as effective for the dancefloor.Essential tracks for all House and Deep Techno DJ’s.

Rocky – (X-Press 2) – “2 killers right here!!”

Carl Cox – “Like the whole funked up raw sound of Mami Wata . Another great release from Saved.”

Paul Woolford - "Both are right up my strasse. Killer stuff as you would expect from these guys."

2000 and One - "Nice grooves!"

Behrouz - "I'm liking the Garden of the Gods. full support, thank you!"

Tiger Stripes – “My new fav producers don’t leave you disappointed!”

Jose Maria Ramon - (Ibiza Global Radio) - "Oh yeah!!! Magnifico..."

DJ Magazine UK - "Funky funky funky!!"

Apple Mangrove EP: Out Now

13/07/2009

Apple Mangrove (Original) - Emmanuel
Color Save the Days (Original) - Emmanuel & RAH

Available now: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/180747/Apple%20Mangrove%20EP

Following on from the huge “Green Tea” by Nic Fanciulli, Saved records continues its campaign with an EP from Emmanuel. Aged just 22, Emmanuel has been carving out his production skills for the past 6 years. He has already achieved recognition from many of the worlds leading DJs with past releases on Shlomi Aber’s “Be as one” imprint played out by Laurent Garnier, Francois K, Adam Beyer, Dubfire and Josh Wink.

Apple Mangrove is a deep house bomb which moves and progresses through grooving basslines, shifting hats, chopped up vocal stabs and is lead by a powerful Indian flute.

On the flipside Emmanuel has teamed up with Italian Raffaele Attanasio a.k.a. RAH to create “Color save the days”. The track starts with a Detroit feel, possessing deep subby kicks and raw hats which then progresses into a much more techier, and equally as potent track than the A side. Both are big tracks for the coming summer months.

Laurent Garnier - "Color is the track for me. Will play this for sure!"
Adam Beyer - "Apple Mangrove is a great record!

Nic Fanciulli Presents Saved with special guest DJs

Tiga, Josh Wink, Matt Walsh, Andy Chatterley

Room 2: Hosted by BLACK RABBIT
Yousef, Duke Dumont, Guy Williams
and more to be confirmed

** Saved returns to matter Saturday 25th July**
Saved returns to matter on Saturday 25th July after another show stopping event in April and still shows no sign of slowing down. Saved head honcho
Nic Fanciulli is on form to showcase potentially Saved’s biggest line-up to date boasting what many festivals would die for as their headline act’s all playing under the same roof. The words sell out are expected for this show so make sure you get your tickets as this is the hottest one in town. Saved is proud to announce……

**TIGA**
Tiga made his first appearance at matter in February with Bugged Out,
when he enjoyed making his acquaintance with the new venue every bit as
much as the 2,800 people who attended the night. Since then he's been
busy promoting his new album 'Ciao!', which has garnered fulsome praise
since its release in late April, showcasing Tiga's ear for a delectable
pop moment as much as his talent for producing monstrous dancefloor
devourers.

** JOSH WINK **
Joining him will be Philly's Josh Wink, who has made a splash this year
with his own artist album 'When A Banana Was Just A Banana'. The Ovum
boss has been running the label and operating at the forefront of techno
for longer than some of the new school of producers have been alive, yet
has never seen his influence wane, continuing to top line-ups at the
biggest parties around the world and produce big room techno classics
that make their way into record boxes of DJs across the spectrum. His
third matter set will de well worth squeezing onto the Room 1 dancefloor
for: as anyone who experienced his previous matter performances will
know, there have been few better at getting the best out of the
BodyKinetic dancefloor - we're extremely excited to have him come raise
the bar once more.

The Room 1 bill is completed by Tiga's Turbo labelmate Matt Walsh,
himself also returning after February's Bugged Out appearance; Plus Nic Fanciulli’s label mate and Skylark partner Andy Chatterley.

Room 2:
Welcomes back Black Rabbit, who return to take other the venue's
second dancefloor for the 4th time, this time welcoming matter resident
Yousef into the fold alongside Guy Williams and a very special headline
act to be announced soon.

Andrea Oliva "Rainers" Out Now on Saved

10/06/2009

Rainers (Original) / Rainers (Philip Bader Remix)

Saved records’ latest release comes from label debutant Andrea Oliva.

The Swiss – based Italian is one of the hottest exports to come from mainland Europe.
Since the age of 16 he has built up a reputation as one of the most up and coming DJs in Switzerland, gaining residencies at the biggest clubs, and also creating his productions to the same par. Past productions have gained support from the DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed and Laurent Garnier, and this release is sure to gain support among all House & Techno DJs.

“Rainers” is a deep, tribal bomb, set to tear apart all good dance floors this summer. Built on a deep, pulsating bassline and tribal sounds, the track is layered with cool vocal stabs which give it a Balearic twist.

The package is sealed with a deep, groovy remix from Berliner Philip Bader.
A veteran in the underground German scene, and proprietor of newly formed Dantze records, he has added his twist of vocal manipulation, something which he is a fan of applying. The vocals have more of a presence in the remix and through intelligent processing, Philip delivers a remix that works.

Both the original and remix are essential tracks for the CD wallets and record boxes of all Deep House & Techno DJ’s

Laurent Garnier - "The Remix is a good funky track, will play!"
DJ Hell - "I will play it!"
Hernan Catteno - "Sounds really good."
Ali Schwarz – (Tiefschwarz) – “Very nice, like both mixes.”
Adam Beyer – “Good tool.”
Loco Dice – “Sounds interesting, I’m gonna try it!”
Davide Squillace – “Already playing it… great remix.”

New Saved release: Mark Broom 'Meltin Pot EP'

27/04/2009

Available now:https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/167872/Meltin%20Pot%20EP

Mark Broom enjoys a reputation as one of the most consistently impressive producers of techno the UK has produced. A DJ for over 20 years and with a back catalogue that shows success with most of the labels who have meant anything over the last 15 years, Mark continues to set the standard to follow Meltin’ Pot is a classic Broom groove. Executed in a trademark-restrained style with subtle layers of percussion and funk-fuelled bass to create an infectious tech house wiggle. Add on a variety of well-chosen effects and you have a killer cut Raincheck delves deeper into Broom’s late-night locker. Thumping beats, plucked chords, wigged out keys and fuzzy bassline are all the order of the day as the pumped up groove marauds its way through an action-packed 7 minutes.

Nic Fanciulli - "I've always been a massive fan of Mark Broom and what he does. So for me to sign him to my label is a massive bonus!"

Adam Beyer - "Nice one, like melting pot and will play! Broom always delivers."

Laurent Garnier - "Mark's always been a funky man This is another nice one from him Full support as usual."

Luciano - "Rain Check, play and love it !!!"

Carl Cox - "Mark's back on a roll - love both these tracks."

iDJ Magazine - "Another 'clean sweep' from our man Broom. This one's literally got me 'bristling' with excitement. You might even say it's as "daft as a brush", and too much to "handle". ... Tedious cleaning accessory-related puns aside, this is a fantastic release. Will be giving it some serious airing, make no mistake! :)"

SAVED RETURNS TO MATTER NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT!

With the Easter break now all but a hazy memory, attention now shifts to the second Saved event at matter next Saturday 25th April. Boasting one of the strongest lineups seen in the capital in 2009, we expect nothing short of a sell-out as the UK’s underground house community converges on East London for this very special night.

JEROME SYDENHAM SAVED MIX FOR DOWNLOAD:

Jerome Sydenham is one of the hottest tickets in the world of house and techno right now. Renowned for pushing the creative envelope and ability to blend between genres of electronic music, we are delighted to be welcoming him to play the next Saved at matter. Best known for his superb label Ibadan Records and his beautiful, emotive, sunkissed deep house tracks like Swimming Places and his timeless collaboration with Dennis Ferrer, Sandcastles, Sydenham is all about hypnotic, soulful, sexy techno. His collaborations with Get Physical’s Swedish talent Tiger Stripes - like the hugely acclaimed Elevation and their joyous remix of Faze Action’s classic In The Trees - should likewise be added to the cannon of great house music history.

His DJ sets are nothing short of phenomenal – veering from deep, intricate, chugging techno, to jackin’ tech house, into huge anthemic house moments in the classic vein. In this exclusive mix for Saved, which is available now as a Data Transmission podcast, Jerome pursues his love for techno – both industrial-edged thumpers and deep, soulful Detroit moments, with some melodic beauties along the way.

EXCLUSIVE NIC FANCIULLI INTERVIEW:

Nic has been even busier than usual; Miami WMC was followed by Snowbombing and then a special Formula One event as part of the Malaysian Grand Prix. Ever the professional however Nic took time out of his hectic schedule to answer the following questions:

Having had several weeks to reflect on the success of the Saved launch at matter, what in particular were you happy about on that unforgettable night?
It was great to play on that amazing soundsystem. The club has been designed in such a great way that it still has the small vibe feel to it even though it holds well over 2000. It was also great to have one of my heroes Francois K play for me.

The next Saved at matter showcases many of the finest artists in underground house music. Who in particular are you looking forward to checking out?
It’s a great list of DJs to have on the lineup so its pretty hard to choose. But Theo Parrish has to be the picky for me on this night.

Saved made its debut at this years Miami WMC. How did it go?
We picked this great 300 capacity venue and booked all our friends. It was a great party.

What three tracks are doing it for you at the moment?
1. Mark Broom ‘Jackpot’ [Saved]
2. Dubfire ‘Driver’ [Unknown]
3. Layo & Bushwacka ‘Raw Road’ [Unknown]

SAVED ARTIST PROFILE 4: DERRICK CARTER

For our next show at matter, Saved is proud to present a true heavyweight in the world of dance music; Derrick Carter. While Derrick’s reputation may be one of the most revered names on the scene, up there with the likes of Jeff Mills and Carl Craig in terms of innovation and talent, he’s never really emerged from the underground, preferring to let his music do the talking.

As a teenager in the late eighties he took his love of disco, soul and funk and dived into the emerging Chicago house scene, regarded then and now as one of the most influential and groundbreaking movements in modern dance music. Derrick played at seminal nights like Shelter and Foxy’s and started to produce his own tracks, which while epitomising the Chicago sound retained the old school disco, soul and jazz of his roots.

Continually pushing his sound forward to produce pioneering works that are consistently met with critical acclaim and that have set dancefloors on fire, his debut at matter for Saved is the perfect opportunity to witness a legend doing what he does best. For this show will see Derrick lock horns with DJ Sneak in an incredible four hour back-to-back set, their first in the UK in SEVEN years since playing the Tribal Gathering Warehouse event in Manchester in 2002. Unmissable is a term often over-used; in this case we couldn’t think of anything more apt.

STEVE RACHMAD ‘HIDDEN ALLEYS’ & ‘STREET LIGHTS’ OUT NOW ON SAVED RECORDS

Steve Rachmad is globally known as one of the most long-standing techno producers to emerge from Europe. Over the years, Steve has released on Cocoon, 100% Pure, Fragile, M-Plant, Tresor, Music Man and Delsin as well as remixing a wide range of acts from Derrick May to M.A.N.D.Y to Basement Jaxx. Hidden Alleys opens up this EP in understated, atmospheric style, encompassing lush deep house melodies and jacking, abrasive keys. Under-pinned by a bumping tech house groove this is intelligent, emotive, soulful music. Street Lights is where Steve’s Detroit influences shine through the brightest. Wonderfully hypnotic jangling keys develop and morph to form an uplifting melody that contrasts evocatively with the more melancholic industrial tones that make up the rest of the track. The result being an epic and dramatic tech house track that does just as much for the mind as it does for the feet. Now available to purchase from Beatport, the tracks have received huge DJ support from the likes of John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Hernan Cattaneo.

Nic Fanciulli
presents Saved with special guest DJs

Derrick Carter vs DJ Sneak
(London Exclusive: 4 Hour back-to-back set)
Dennis Ferrer • Theo Parrish
Jerome Sydenham (Ibadan)
Steve Mac • Will Saul (Simple)

Saved returns to matter on Saturday 25th April following the sold-out launch event in February with head honcho Nic Fanciulli, Green Velvet and Francois K. Nic will be running proceedings again as he presents one of the strongest deep house lineups seen in London this year.

Headlining this show alongside Nic are two very special artists that we are privileged to welcome to matter for the very first time; Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak. Internationally recognised as two of the most influential house DJs and producers of all time, this show will see Chicago’s finest lock horns in an incredible four hour back-to-back set, their first in the UK in SEVEN years since playing the Tribal Gathering Warehouse event in Manchester in 2002. Unmissable is a term often over-used; in this case we couldn’t think of anything more apt.

In addition to Nic, Carter and Sneak the talent comes thick and fast as we welcome Theo Parrish to Saved for an extremely rare DJ set. Alongside the likes of Moodyman, Parrish represents Detroit techno’s third wave of producers and continues to amaze music fans across the globe with his unique sound and style. A true legend we are privileged to be flying him over for an exclusive UK show.

As two of the finest DJs and producers of 21st Century house, Dennis Ferrer and Jerome Sydenham come to matter to showcase their incredible sound on the venue’s mammoth soundsystem. The duo burst onto our consciousness with the release of ‘Sandcastles’, one of the biggest tracks of 2003 and one of the first productions to successfully straddle the tech-soulful divide. Ferrer has followed up ‘Sandcastles’ with a succession of outstanding releases including ‘Son of Raw’, ‘Church Lady’, ‘Underground Is My Home’ and ‘Touched the Sky’, all of which have helped to establish him as one of the most rounded producers in dance music. Not unlike Ferrer, Sydenham is also renowned for pushing the creative envelope and ability to blend between genres of electronic music, whilst his label Ibadan remains one of the most respected in underground circles.

Completing this immense lineup are two of house music’s unsung heroes; Steve Mac and Will Saul. Steve is set to have another massive year with releases on his own label sMACk as well as Sci+tec and Saved, whilst Will’s exceptional Simple Records imprint continues to forge its path as one of the best labels for deep and driving house and techno.
