Danny Serrano

Danny Serrano is one of the artists that more people stuck in the capital of Spain. He was born in 1981, in Madrid. City that will turn into his cradle by his feelings in the world of the music. He starts being a child. With only 8 years and with a keyboard, he begins to record, cut and paste diverse sounds. In 1995 he begins his musical profession in 'Ritual - El sonido', the place that gave him the opportunity to learn from the beginning until the use of the word. Danny grew up totally imbued in electronics: at the age of sixteen, he used his first wage to buy a turntable. In 2001 he entered in the world of Deejays by Nando and Ismael Rivas (Space of Sound), and he quickly became a skilled professional Dj among nightclubs such as 'Clam', 'Batavia', 'Kea', 'Yoker', 'Travesia', 'Locuras' or 'Coyote Club', among others. In 2004 Fernando Godoy (Senor Goldwind) discovers him, and he's the one who gives him the opportunity to make himself known nationally and internationally. After a stage outside Madrid, Danny starts to mix music again in 'Trance' and later in 'Groove', which in 2006 attracted the attention of Carlsberg, tour dedicated to all those lovers of good music and quality settings. In 2006 he began to be part of Carlsberg as a resident DJ of Carlsberg World Wide Clubbing Tour, as a bet of the mark by new values, promoting the national talent beside artists from the international scene. Danny Serrano was chosen by his pure technical plates, despite his youth, and a musical taste able to answer to all the publics from the originality and elegance. On this tour Danny begins to discover new sounds in electro and house; he defines and polishes his style to the minimal tech, tech house and techno. Danny Serrano played at venues such as 'Moma' (Madrid), 'Opio' (Santander), 'One' (London), 'THE RUBE' (Paris), 'SLAM' (Roma), 'Rouge' (Jerez), 'Zoo-Club' (Vigo), 'SPOOM' (Amsterdam) , 'I GOT CA' (Carlton), 'Plastic' (Milan), 'Puzzle' (Valencia), 'Pacha' (Barcelona). Recently, we saw him in Chivas Studio (Madrid) as the only dj. Until now he has been playing with some of the best Djs in the world like Misstres Barbara, Monika Krusse, Tania Vulcano, Satoshi Tomiie, Nic Fanciulli, Laurent Garnier, 2Many Dj's,Fat boy Slim, Sasha, Deep Dish, John Digweed, Carl Cox, among others. Even he has played in several music festivals such as 'Befeater London Madrid Arena', 'Carlsberg World Wide Clubbing Port Santa Maria' (Cadiz), 'No se oye festival' (Valencia), 'Electronic-festival' (Madrid)... His electrical nerve and his special talent to identify the public, create some sessions where everyone hears is hypnotized with an unique sound of timbals, effects, captured and changes of rhythm. Sessions defined like a big party where the people takes part in and no one pass undetected.

yousef

Where does Yousef stand in 2009? As he approaches his third decade in the business, nearly fifteen years of acid house dedication that has seen him throw his life into dance music, there's still room for growth artistically and professionally. Completely comfortable in his own skin, yet itching for progress and further creative empowerment, Yousef has strode headlong into the year with increasing maturity and prowess. Perhaps the talking point of the year so far refers to the imminent arrival of his artist album, his first proper. Whilst 2005's 'Friends' EP saw a collection of collaborations extend the usual club format of single, this is Yousef tackling that tricky beast completely on his own, finally laying down on wax a watermark of his effervescent personality. It showcases the different dynamics to his sound as a performer alongside material more reflective of the man away from the booth, with the club tracks already seeing some heavy support from the usual rag tag ensemble of dance music greats; Sasha, Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, Radio Slave and Nick Curly among them. 'A Collection of Scars & Situations' is more than just your typical DJ led collection of bangers though. They are catered for of course, most resplendently by the pulsating tech house monster 'Legacy' (bolstered by a superb archaic vocal from Derrick Carter and recently premiered to devastating effect on Pete Tong's Essential Selection and now picked up by renaissance recordings) and the Beyer - esque 'Equilibrium'. But it's the haunting electronica of 'Birthday Thoughts' and 'A Moment of Clarity' that give the album it's gritty edge, two bleak almost dystopian efforts which channel the darker undercurrents of electronic music perfectly, much better than the standard 'chill-out' fare posted by DJs when they turn their artistic efforts into a long player. The album comes in June, with Circus Recordings in itself notching up a year of releases one month earlier, churning out eight Yousef singles which have illustrated the madness and hedonism of the club he has created. That celebrated six years at the apex of Liverpool's club scene in September last year and his still pulling line-ups together that makes the accountants balk and the clubbers froth at the mouth. Its house music at its kaleidoscopic best, the more accessible names such as Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada and Eric Prydz competing with the heavyweights of the underground like Laurent Garnier, Luciano and Dubfire. And that's not forgetting the young blood; Circus has Jamie Jones, Sebo K and Davide Squillace to name a few. There's nothing predictable about the clubbing powerhouse Yousef has created. As ever it's a stylistic snapshot not only of the modern house music climate, but that of Yousef himself. Whilst he shot to fame in the late nineties countering the main room trance and progressive of Cream with US house flavoured beats in his famed Annexe residency, Yousef has evolved and taken much more on board into his stylistic remit. Whilst his techno renaissance has been underway for a while, this year the style has continued to take more twists and turns into differing realms of the electronic sphere. The deep disco of producers like Prins Thomas and Mark E has recently found itself an integral part of Yousef's musings, enabling him to give another edge to the swaggering groove and swing that has always been at the forefront of his sound. It's this process of constant evolution rather than reinvention which has characterised Yousef's career, and kept him at the forefront of promoters' thoughts across the globe. He's played in pretty much every nation the world over, marking one first last year as the first western DJ to play the troubled nation of Syria. Ibiza, with its arcane hedonism and wild party ethos has always served as an adequate stomping ground for his cross genre grooves. Last season he was the only DJ to be asked to play at all three of Space's marquee nights, both Danny Tenaglia and Carl Cox's promotions and of course the jewel in the island's crown, We Love...Sundays. And of course he's back there this year... with a vengeance. He's also clocked up his first London Residency by inking a monthly deal at Matter, the brainchild of Fabric impresario Keith Reilly. And there's the small matter of him running the London marathon, raising cash for CALM and showcasing his serious edge to the party reputation he's always encased. Record Label Owner and Internationally renowned club promoter, it's a far cry form the excess which defined wilder youth, confirming his professionalism and dedication to the acid house dream. Following on from previous work for CR2, JBO, Skint and Underwater and Berwick street his productions are still getting to outlets beyond Circus Recordings. This Year He's already remixed Stu Hirst, Fergie, Tobii and Onionz to devastating effect. Not stopping there, this year he has remixed two UK legends, Xpress2 classic 'say what' see's the 'circus rework' treatment from yousef, whilst Fatboy Slim's brand new single with rasp voiced rudeboy Jamie T 'Local Town', will feature a stonking Yousef remix. Nic Fanciulli asked him for a single from the aforementioned album' 'i suggest' drops on Saved Records in February 10 with an equally as strong 'firecracker' as its flip side. The albums lead track "Legacy" was picked up for single release by renaissance. Leading to plays all over specialist dace radio world wide (most notabley john digweed, carl cox and bbc radio one's pete tong), as well the coverted DMC single of the week where legacy was described by kiss needs as 'one of the stand out tracks of 2009'. Deeper into 2009 Yousef stepped into Germany, the hub of worldwide electronic music by singing two new ep's Mannhiem premier league label 'PLASTIC CITY'. More recently after season long support from Sven Vath, Yousef has a single release on the worlds most followed electronic music brand 'COCOON'. Whether criss-crossing the globe with his arsenal of varied sounds or impregnating his own individual aural histrionics on wax, Yousef is stamping his identity on dance music and leaving a lasting impression. There's few who come close in terms of dedication or in the variance of approach, Yousef hits each and every base with alarming regularity. And the best part yet? The journey has only just begun...

Santos

Born in Frosinone (ciociaria). Santos benefited from the strong creativity of those early disco years. He's grateful to have grown up in a cosy family environment warmed up by the notes of the Discofever. In 1976 he discovered his first musical inspiration 'Giorgio Moroder' producer of 'Donna Summer' amongst many other. All his birthday presents had to be records upon records, and so his deep knowledge of contemporary electronic music started. Fascinated by the Chicago House Music, Santos decided to produce a track in his own bedroom and he bought his first electronic keyboard. In the same period he also received his first British production 'Theme From S-Express' a track that had the kind of strong vibe he could really relate too. In 1992 he set up a small studio together with a friend where he used to spend lots of hours composing his music. Two years later in 1994 Santos made his first record. In '95 Santos was approached by Mantra Vibes a record-label of Expanded music, for the track SANTOS "THE PIANO". This record created a lot buzz in the music business and it was included in a lot of dj's playlists. His career was taking off; 3 years later he was part of another important project called SANTOS & SABINO with the song "LARARARI" (canzone felice), a commercial but unusual record. With his innovating and strong mentality Santos along with Mantra Vibes A&R Marco "PeeDoo" Gallerani created a new sound, promptly named "Shakadelism". Supported by English Dj's as Pete Tong, Steve Lamacq, Annie Nightingale and Judge Jules from BBC Radio 1, Basement Jaxx and Ashley Beadle, the single 'Camels' scored the UK top 10, and on June 18th 2001 the first album 'R U SHAKADELIC?' was released; the World recognized that THE SHAKADELIC SOUND had DEFINITELY ARRIVED. Santos fame increased widely all around the world. He went to play all over Europe, from Ibiza to London (Big Beat Boutique vs. Bugged Out night) and of course Italy and from these experiences once back in the studio he gave life to a very special series of ep's. The 'Helsinki EP' was the first one which includes Spanish flavored track 'Ke Dolor' which also became a single supported immediately by Judge Jules from BBC radio1 and contained the remix by German Jan Driver and the one from Chill'out danish producers Banzai Republic; second was the 'Bruxelles EP' and third the well acclaimed 'Pandemonio EP' from the monthly night residency at the Maffia Club in Italy which included the astonishing track 'Sabot' the 'Tortuga Tool' and 'No Ticket No Run' included in the Perfecto Breaks compiled by Lee Coombs. At the beginning of 2003 'No Ticket No Run' was remixed by Australian master Dj Krafty Kuts and released in February on MOB Records. 2003 has also seen the born of Mantra Breaks, a Mantra Vibes dept. dedicated to breaks where Santos has released his first breakbeat ep called 'Another Planet EP' with the tracks 'I Just Cannot Come Back From The Space' (no. 1 in the most important Italian underground radio shows), '70 Sensation' (released in July on MOB records) and 'U Make Me Rock' remixed by Daluq and the single 'Sabot' remixed by Drummatic Twins. All this has brought Santos to be one of the most requested remixer of the moment. After the remix of Fatboy Slim (by the way one of the major Santos supporters) 'Drop The Hate', Santos reached number 1 in the Dance German Chart with the remix project of Armand Van Helden's 'Funk Phenomena' and he was asked to remix Robbie Rivera's 'Funkatron' which was very well received. Santos scored once again the number 1 position of July Cool Cuts Chart with the remix of Junior Senior 'Rhythm Bandits'. After the crazy '4 Traxx' EP released in September Santos remixed Boogie Pimps 'Somebody To Love' which was also included in the first Mantra Breaks compilation titled 'Agatha - Rock'n'Roll mixed live by Lai & Petitti' (in collaboration with Rome Club night Agatha). After the release of 'Too Fast' record with a special remix by Meat Katie & Elite Force, the most important thing in 2004 (apart Santos participation at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan - first Italian producer to be invited) was for sure the second album titled 'Abrasive', released exclusively in June for Japan and out worldwide from in September. 2005 opened with a tour in Japan and the release of 'Shakadelic Upgrade' a selection compiled by Santos only for the Japanese market. February brought the exhibition at the Breakspoll Award in London with label mate Madox; together then out in spring with project 'Trouble Soup!!'. After the single 'Tzumbae' with special remix from Superchumbo which rocked the dancefloor all over the world Santos was busy touring UK, China and of course Italy. After the 'Ultimate Mantra Breaks' compilation for Australia and the new single 'Pump It Up!' with a Dub and Vocal remix from Timo Maas. The so awaited new album 'Home Sweet Home' came out in February 2006. Immediately it obtained 5 stars on 5 on Dj Magazine February issue and it got acclaimed by the critics; recently it was included in DJ MAG 365 most glorious moment of 2006 at the 30th position! Santos has been flooded by enthusiastic reviews (Rolling Stone Italy, Raveline, BLOW UP (6 pages interview) to name a few), travelling and touring the globe: Japan, China, all over Europe included several memorable gigs at Fabric... his always growing popularity brought him on top of electronic music elite to be special guest on ANNIE NIGHTINGALE'S SHOW LIVE FROM THE SPINNAKER TOWER on BBC Radio 1, a magic and superb experience he shared with Plump DJs. From the album the track 'Elektro' came out with two remixes, one form veteran Robbie Rivera and the other one from young Italian electro wonder Scuola Furano. Long is the list of remixes that Santos made, from Ils 'Angels' - Santos 'Comes With' Dub to J Mekka - 'Come On &..(Santos Mix)' (included by Pete Tong in the hottest dance records radio chart), trough his remix for Nils Noa 'Stereostyle' (Santos Metallized Remix) on Lot 49 still heavily supported by the tech-funk massive, till his masterpiece remix of the year, Santos remixed his INTIMATE track he did along with cosmic guru Manuel Gottsching... the limited 12" on DIstinctive/mantra is right now a collectable item other than the best end of the set tune of 2006. Not enough he mixed his first "Y4K" as Trouble Soup!! (with Madox)...Their remixes for Todd Terry, Tayo & Acid Rockers and Slyde increased Trouble Soup!! popularity so much to be called to mix the prestigious compilation Y4K. 'Trouble Soup!! presents Y4K' is a breakbeat house mashup that makes use of slamming house beats as much as it does of big ass breakbeats. It featured exclusive track and remixes from the likes of Dave Clarke, Chris Lake, Santos and Madox. Last but not least, Santos spin-off project MASKIO started a few years ago left a window open on the acid-house scene and release timeless tech influenced music while he was deeply experimenting new shakadelic forms of breakbeats and modern discoid funk. In 2007 some of his MASKIO output sounds like the freshest and energetic club music around, more than minimal, fatter than techno and 'Monday' really could be one of the underground tunes of summer 2007. In the meanwhile look for Santos 'MAD ACID' which is included in the MAD IN SICILY sampler 1 vinyl on Mantra Breaks but most of all to Santos brand new tunes on HELL YEAH RECORDINGS 'Female' and 'I Don't Know' released SOMATIQUE for HELL YEAH RECORDINGS (incluted in Carl Cox-Ministry of Sound compliation, supported by Lauren Garnier, Nic Fanciulli etc...) The 2 MANY DJS release nu compilation "2 Many DJ'S! PT. 8" which included FAT BOY SLIM "DROP THE HATE - (SANTOS REMIX) Skint records" 2008 started with an important collaboration: Timo Maas "MUTANT CLAN" was the name of the project...material will be released from September 2008...I'M TOTALLY CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 2008 Alex Dolby album "PSIKO GARDEN" released on Global Underground, SANTOS & DOLBY produced the tracks and Santos is the sounds eng... Santos releases in May/June 2009 a nu single (yupppppp) on MOON HARBOUR RECORDINGS (M.TANZMANN's LABEL) a track called HOLD HOME at the moment played by :TIMO MAAS, LUCIANO, VILLALOBOS, LOCODICE... and Others Guys...MAMMA MAMMA ;)
